Freedom Park

President Brian Tidyman led the Dawn Service and Main Service commemorations on behalf of the Hervey Bay RSL Sub-Branch at Freedom Park.

The Dawn Service attracted a crowd in excess of 7000 people, the biggest turnout in Hervey Bay to date. Hervey Bay RSL Sub-Branch Treasurer Tracy Gillespie (Ex RAN) was Parade Marshall and led the Main March before the 5000 strong crowd. There were 75 wreath layers for the Main Service at the Light Horse War Memorial.

Padre Vic Burgess was there to share his thoughts and prayers with the people of Hervey Bay, this being the last commemoration service before he retires due to health. Thank you to the Reviewing Officer Greg “Doc” Newman and to the Catafalque Party from 9RQR

The traditional Gunfire Breakfast and luncheon for members and invited guests was held at the RSL Club.
