Community Link News

On the 19th June 2011 forty eight (48) students from grade 6 & 7 as well as five (5) Teachers from Yarrilee State School will be leaving Hervey Bay for a trip to Canberra.

Some of the students are being supported by Wide Bay District RSL so they can join their classmates on this exciting trip. The Hervey Bay RSL Sub-branch is suppling shirts to all that will be going away on this trip.

Yarrilee State School lead the way with the highest number of children who have joined the Community Link Program in Hervey Bay. They will proudly display their new shirts with their School name as well as the Community Link Logo printed on the front.

The students will visit the Canberra War Memorial where they will take part in a special ceremony to lay a wreath as well as poppies at the Memorial Wall. Many of the students have Grand-fathers and Great grand-fathers who were killed in past wars.

The Hervey Bay RSL wish all that are going a great and safe trip and we look forward to hearing all their stories when they return.
